Who We Are
Jeff owes his beer crafting spirit to his Mom who saw his passion and bought him his first kit which he set up in his dad's garage. Hoppy and Belgian beers were his first love, followed by barrel-aged, sour, saisons, and pilsner. Jeff launched his official brewing career at BJ’s brewhouse in Chandler, Arizona where he was lead brewer. His beer won a Gold Medal at Great American Beer Festival, two Gold Medals, one Silver and a Bronze at North American Brewers Association, plus a Gold Medal at Los Angeles International Commercial Beer Competition. Jeff's greatest beer memory is in Antwerp, Belgium drinking 12-year old Chimay Blue and Westvleteren 12 with some locals who, after leaving the bar, gave him a night tour of the city. New to San Francisco, he loves to just to walk around and explore the city's amazing street art, nature, food and beer - and the ocean when you need to breathe.
Andrew Casteel's passion for beer began during his college days at Caltech, where he repeatedly, unsuccessfully tried to sample every one of the 40 beers at Lucky Baldwins before they changed their tap list. An avid homebrewer, BJCP judge and certified Cicerone, Andrew decided to take the plunge and start a brewery after traveling through Belgium and experiencing the breadth of styles and the depth of craft in their beers. He sought to merge this traditional approach with the California bounty that is all around him. Andrew lives zealously, whether he’s brewing, hunting, diving, running, biking, cooking or otherwise seeking his next adventure.
